His Perfection Fixes Our Brokenness

aug 23

Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Psalm 4:4

Simply sit in silence and reflect on God’s goodness. When you stop to search His Word, you discover that His kindness to us is overwhelming. You find a God who has great love for even the imperfect, broken parts of us. How overwhelming! A love like no other that knocks us to our knees. A love that we cannot match—in fact, no earthly love compares. Psalm 4:4 calls us to reflect on the majesty of our Lord. No other love is so great. He sent His perfect Son to sacrifice for our ugly, selfish, sickly sinfulness. The love our great God has for us is like no other under heaven. Believers shake with the thought that He would love us so much. Out of respect for His love, we fear the Lord, repent, and avoid sin, for it is impossible to know God’s love and not be changed. Proverbs 25:24 suggests that it is better to live on the rooftop than to quarrel with your family. The Creator of heaven and earth provides us all that we need to get through each daily struggle, so we need not struggle with one another. Search your hearts and be silent! Be patient with one another. Be slow to anger. Choose love first. Forgive those who frustrate you. James 1:19 reminds us, “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Christ has heard your voice of repentance, spoken the word of forgiveness, and judged you to be righteous in His sight!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, as my Savior. Help me to carefully study and ponder Your Word. Amen.
