New Orleans is a Gumbo!

As a New Orleans native, I think the best word to describe my city is a gumbo. Gumbo is a local stew that has as many varieties as there are people in town. For your gumbo you can use chicken, crabs, shrimp, sausage, rice, bell peppers, okra, bay leaves, you name it – it can all go in the gumbo! And New Orleans is very similar. We have a lot of different cultures, music, people and traditions that all blend together and add to our cultural gumbo. It’s part of what makes our city so unique and so loved. Continue reading
